The high carbon content of Stellite®3 alloy increases the volume fraction of carbides, thus increasing its wear and resistance to solid particles. The high tungsten content improves its high temperature performance. However, this makes it almost impossible to make the surface crack-free and the material that can withstand has little influence. It has excellent metal-to-metal wear resistance and can resist wear when used in conjunction with other metals.
